On one occasion Jesus attended a Sabbath meal in the house of a prominent Pharisee. Luke records how the guests were closely watching Jesus’ every move, scrutinizing him to see what he would do. But Jesus was also watching them. Some things he observed about their behavior provided the occasion for three parables.
