One of the ways in which we can appreciate the terrible effects of sin is by seeing how it has actually affected people. The Bible gives many tragic examples of those who fell into sin. None is more revealing than the example of David. In David we see a man who had a good heart – “a man after God’s own heart.” Yet this basically good man committed a grievous sin that brought tragedy and heartbreak to himself, his family and his nation for years to come.
