The author of Ecclesiastes refers to himself as “the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem” (1:12). Armed with great advantage, he engages in a royal search. He has whatever the world has to offer within his reach. He was one with immense resources, and he put forth a carefully studied effort to discover the meaning and purpose of life under the sun.
